Palmetto Anthro Collective Mission Statement
Palmetto Anthro Collective Inc. exists to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive community for South Carolina's furry fandom while advancing the public’s appreciation and understanding of furry fandom art, culture, and creativity through education, community led excursions, events, and public engagement.
The History of the Collective and Palmetto Anthro Weekend
The idea for Palmetto Anthro Collective was started in September, 2024
When PeachyLightz and BajaWerewolf, two furry vendors in trade, were vending at South Carolina Anime and Comic conventions, they realized how many furries were at these conventions who had no idea about each other, or the community right in their backyard, and were amazed by just how many furries there are in South Carolina.
Palmetto Anthro Collective was founded in January of 2025 after hosting a furmeet on the aircraft carrier the USS Yorktown through the local meet-up group called the (Charleston) CHS Snoot Boopers, getting about 20 in attendance, the reception of which fueled the fire to host bigger and brighter events.
Palmetto Fur the Season was the first concept, on paper being a mini-convention before jumping into the full-scale convention, allowing our staff to make mistakes, grow, and learn, all while operating at a small scale. The original idea was to host 3 events across South Carolina, but due to the success of the 2nd event at 117 attendees in October 2025, and the issues of securing a venue we needed for our growth in Columbia SC, the Palmetto Anthro Collective Board of Directors unanimously voted that Greenville felt like our home-base. We catapaulted into the convention planning stage and here we are!
We're excited to bring our home state its first furry convention!
